Thank you for visiting our Ride for Life 2010 project page, sponsored by Johnny G. Weir fans worldwide and officially endorsed by Johnny G. Weir. We very much appreciate your support and your willingness to donate to this wonderful cause!

What We're Doing

One of Johnny's fans, known only as "Rider X," is participating in the 545-mile AIDS/LifeCycle 2010 ride on behalf of Johnny and all his fans, and with Johnny's official support. She'll be tweeting and twitpic'ing along the way so that everyone can follow her progress.

The rest of Johnny's fans--a group that literally numbers in the hundreds of thousands around the world--are donating to sponsor Rider X. And they're hoping that you'll want to be a part of our “Ride for Life” effort by adding your $10 donation to theirs.

Why Johnny Is Helping

As you may know, Johnny is a three-time U.S. National Men's Figure Skating Champion, a World Medalist, and a two-time Olympian. He's also the star of his own reality show on the Sundance Channel, Be Good Johnny Weir, which earned him a nomination as "Most Addictive Reality Star" in the upcoming NewNowNext Awards, airing June 17 on LogoTV. And he's
well-known, especially by the media, as one of the most delightfully quotable athletes around, a man who's never afraid to put in his two cents
. And his words are usually priceless.

But Johnny is more than one of the top athletes of his generation. He's also a man who cares deeply about helping others. One  of his most passionate goals is to turn whatever recognition and celebrity spotlight comes his way toward humanitarian efforts that can ease the suffering of others--to help those who battle illness, discrimination, or other difficulties in their daily lives.

Already this year, Johnny has lent his support to Equality California and 88 for AIDS. He also spoke eloquently at a press conference during the 2010 Olympics about the importance of seeing people for who they are, not what they are.

How You Can Help

We're asking that you join Johnny in supporting Ride for Life 2010 by offering your own two cents--roughly two cents per mile, that is!--for a total donation of just $10. Of course both larger and smaller donations are welcome, so please do whatever works for you. But just your two cents--added to the two-cents-per-mile donations of thousands of others--has the power to change many, many lives affected by AIDS.

You can donate via credit card, debit card, or personal check at Johnny’s main AIDS/LifeCycle 2010 page. If you submit your donation there, your name will be added to the scrolling list of donors that appears on that site!

If you’d prefer to donate using PayPal, just click the PayPal button below! PayPal donors’ names will not appear on the scrolling list of donors, but will be included on this page!
